Job description:
About Us
At Holly McHone Jewelers, we create jewelry with soul. We’re a family-run fine jewelry studio known for custom designs, heirloom restorations, and craftsmanship that stands the test of time. Our team thrives on collaboration, integrity, and the joy of making something truly lasting. We take pride in being the kind of place where jewelers can grow their skills, stretch creatively, and work in a respectful, close-knit environment.
About You
You’ve got at least 3 years at the bench under your belt, and you’ve already built a strong foundation in stone setting, fabrication, and repair. You care about clean lines, secure settings, and making pieces that feel just right in the hand. You’re comfortable working independently but enjoy bouncing ideas off fellow creatives. Most importantly, you're proud of your work—and you’re always looking for ways to level up.
What You’ll Do
· Set stones with precision—prong, bezel, channel, flush, pavé—we do it all.
· Fabricate and assemble with confidence, working from raw metal or cast parts with clean torch control.
· Handle repairs and restorations that bring treasured pieces back to life—resizing, re-tipping, re-shanking, chain and clasp work.
· Finish and polish with intention, whether it’s high polish, matte, satin, or a unique surface finish.
· Collaborate with our design and sales team to interpret ideas and execute custom builds with excellence.
· Stay organized and safe—you’ll maintain your tools, respect the integrity of each piece, and handle all materials with care.
· Quality check your work, troubleshoot tricky projects, and keep production flowing smoothly.
Your Skillset Includes
Stone Setting Expertise
· Confident setting melee and larger stones in a variety of styles
· Attention to alignment, gem security, and polish
Metalwork Mastery
· Skilled soldering with minimal cleanup
· Fabrication using wire, sheet, and casting grain
Repair & Restoration
· Vintage restoration, resizing, prong work, and more
· Appreciation for both the art and the structure of jewelry
Finishing & Tools
· Comfortable with hand tools, polishing motors, gravers, burrs, flex shaft
· Laser welding experience is a plus (but we’ll train the right person)
· CAD familiarity is helpful, but not required
A Maker’s Mindset
· High standards for detail, proportion, and overall finish
· Reliable, self-motivated, and calm under pressure
Why Work With Us?
We’re not a factory—we’re a creative, supportive shop where your input matters and your skills are respected. We value the people behind the bench as much as the work they do.
Here, you'll have the opportunity to work on meaningful pieces, grow as a craftsperson, and enjoy a balanced life in a beautiful coastal town.
