TITLE : Business Systems & Salesforce Administrator

LINE OF BUSINESS/DIVISION : Information Technology

FLSA STATUS : Exempt

REPORTS TO:  Director, Business Systems 

NUMBER OF POSITIONS REPORTING TO THIS POSITION:  None

LOCATION : Arlington, VA (minimum 2 days per week in office)

 

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS 

The Business Systems & Salesforce Administrator (BSSA) will play a key role in ensuring our business systems and reporting tools meet current and evolving business needs. In this role, the BSSA will administer our Salesforce environment, develop and deliver reporting products to internal and external partners, and contribute to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of business and reporting applications. The BSSA will collaborate with business units and cross functional teams to design, deliver, and administer technology solutions.

Salesforce Administration (50%)

  • Optimize our Salesforce environment while supporting data governance practices and procedures. 
  • Manage system changes including QA, testing, and deployment to our Salesforce environment, including working with custom objects and fields, optimizing the user interface, and developing automations and forms.
  • Promote user adoption, train end users when and where appropriate, and develop and maintain all system documents and procedures.
  • Stay up to date on Salesforce release notes and features and make recommendations on impact and timing of appropriate changes.
  • Manage third-party platform integrations and troubleshoot issues as needed. 
  • Ensure compliance with Salesforce best practices and security protocols.

 

Business System Analysis 30%

  • Analyze current business processes and make recommendations for improvement based on industry trends and professional business knowledge.
  • Work directly with internal partners to understand the individual needs of the business. Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Work with internal partners to improve training and operational procedures to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Support system implementation projects from beginning to completion.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation on all processes, policies, and application configuration for supported systems.

 

Reporting & Data Analytics 20%

  • Design, develop, and deploy dashboards and reports using Salesforce, BI, or other analytics tools to provide insights into organizational performance across all programs. 
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify key metrics, KPIs, and reporting needs. 
  • Automate data workflows, reporting, and data visualizations to improve efficiency and accuracy. 
  • Standardize and maintain reporting object definitions and documentation
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

WHAT WE NEED YOU TO HAVE

  • Salesforce Administrator certification.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Salesforce administration and configuration, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
  • Experience developing reports and dashboards in a Salesforce environment.
  • Well-developed analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience collecting user requirements and translating requirements into technical specifications or business process solutions.
  • Ability to build and forge strong relationships with internal and external team members while understanding their business objectives. 
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects of varied complexity utilizing cross-functional teams in multiple locations.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team navigating internal resources through risks, issues, challenges, and delays with minimal escalations.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; diligent and high attention to detail in completing responsibilities.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Adobe products.

 

WHAT WE’D LIKE YOU TO HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree or greater from an accredited university.
  • Additional Salesforce certifications a plus.
    • Experience with CRM Analytics, Power BI, and/or Tableau
    • A commitment to conservation and the mission of The Conservation Fund.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Work is performed primarily in an office setting. 
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings.
    • Estimated travel – 5-10 % 

 

COMPENSATION AND  BENEFITS  

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000, and the position is eligible for opportunities to earn performance-based bonus compensation. Please note: Salary range provided is an estimate and will be evaluated on an individual basis, taking into consideration the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and education. The final salary offer will be determined accordingly.
