Mechanical Buyer – Supply Chain Team
We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Buyer to support our growing Supply Chain operations. This role reports directly to the Purchasing Manager and plays a critical part in ensuring the smooth flow of materials for production.
What You’ll Do
- Review and process mechanical Bills of Materials (BOMs) released by the engineering team.
- Source vendors, request quotations, and issue purchase orders for mechanical components.
- Negotiate pricing for individual orders as well as long-term supply agreements.
- Monitor order status, track delivery schedules, and expedite shipments when necessary.
- Collaborate closely with Mechanical Engineering to align on requirements and resolve issues.
- Communicate significant cost or delivery variances to management.
- Help establish and maintain consistent purchasing practices across the department.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality and reliability.
Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and material specifications.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing systems.
- Experience sourcing electrical components is a plus.
- Knowledge of fabrication processes such as machining, welding, and sheet metal work is helpful.
