Job Description

This position will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, supplies, and products necessary for production. This role requires strong negotiation skills, market knowledge, and the ability to build relationships with vendors to ensure the best quality and pricing for the company.

Sourcing and Procurement:

  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with vendors to secure advantageous terms.

Inventory Management:

  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to meet production demands while minimizing excess stock.
  • Monitor stock levels, reorder points, and lead times to ensure timely availability of materials.

Quality Assurance:

  • Assess the quality of materials and products from suppliers to ensure they meet company standards.
  • Coordinate with production teams to address any quality issues with the goods received.

Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers regarding order changes, delivery schedules, and quality concerns.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with production, sales, and marketing teams to understand material needs and product requirements.
  • Participate in cross-departmental meetings to align procurement strategies with business objectives.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier communications.
  • Prepare reports on purchasing activities, inventory levels, and supplier performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management is preferred but not required.
  • Proven experience as a buyer or in a procurement role, preferably in the screen printing, embroidery, or promotional products industry.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.

Skills:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in inventory management and purchasing software.
  • Understanding of supply chain processes and logistics.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment: This position is typically office-based but may require occasional visits to supplier locations or production facilities.
