Position Description
The Chief Executive Officer, CEO, is the key management leader and is responsible for overseeing the administration of programs and services and implementation of the strategic plan of the organization. Other key duties include fiscal management, compliance, fundraising, and community outreach. The position is responsible to the Board of Directors for the implementation of policies and services approved by the Board of Directors.
Organization Mission and Strategy
Provides leadership, under the supervision of the Board of Directors, to ensure that the mission of SUNCOM is fulfilled through programs, services, advocacy, and community outreach.
Communicates effectively and transparently with the Board of Directors and provides all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that SUNCOM can successfully fulfill its mission.
Fiscal Performance and Viability
Supervision of fiscal management, through ensuring that the overall financial and business operations of the agency are conducted in a manner that aligns with best practices and the organization’s mission. Review financial statements to ensure they accurately reflect the financial condition of SUNCOM.
Responsible for fiscal management that maximizes resource utilization and maintenance of SUNCOM in a positive financial position.
Develops and oversees resource development strategies to maintain the financial health of SUNCOM, including grant writing, fundraising, and investment management.
Organization Operations & Compliance
Effective administration of SUNCOM’s programs and services.
Recruitment, supervision and retention of competent, qualified staff.
Ensures that all organization processes and procedures comply with relevant laws, regulations and internal policies.
Oversight of organization agreements with the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, Office of Developmental Programs, Office of Vocational Rehabilitation and any other contractual agreements. Work with the program managers to assure the standards and regulations of services under are followed and in compliance.
Coordination with the Board of Directors, including preparing Board of Directors’ meeting agendas, attending Board, Committee and Executive Committee meetings, preparing SUNCOM’s Annual Report, coordinating the Annual Board Meeting, preparing written reports as appropriate, ensuring consistent implementation of Board decisions and continually reviewing SUNCOM’s mission statement and making recommendations as necessary.
Communications and Relationships
Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
Serve as SUNCOM’s primary spokesperson to constituents, the media and the public.
Promote and maintain a positive working relationship with public officials, state, and local foundations and various departments of federal, state, and local governments that have a regulatory and/or financial interest in SUNCOM.
Develop promotional communications and materials such as articles for newspapers, social media posts, website updates, and use of other communication outlets.

SUNCOM offers a generous benefits package. Salary Range $64 - $68,000 Exempt
Salary
68,000 to 72,000 depending on experience, 3% increase after 130 work days

Specific Requirements and Preferences
Minimum Education and Work Experience Requirements
A Master’s Degree with three years of progressive experience as a Manager or Director; or
A Bachelor’s Degree with five years of progressive experience as a Manager or Director.
Preferred Qualifications (in addition to above educational and experience requirements)
Experience in administration of a non-profit agency, including program and service
development, fiscal management, and human resources management.
Experience with service provision and advocacy for individuals with intellectual and
developmental disabilities.
