Job Description

Director of Finance

Seattle, WA

We are seeking a proven finance executive who thrives in fast-moving, growth-oriented companies. This individual will serve as a key business partner to senior leadership and the Board, guiding the organization through its next phase of expansion while also ensuring operational discipline and strong financial performance.

Role Overview

The Finance & Operations Leader will be responsible for overseeing all financial and select back-office functions, including IT and HR. This is a highly visible position that combines strategy with execution—balancing forward-looking financial planning with the hands-on leadership needed to optimize day-to-day operations. The right candidate will bring both technical finance expertise and the ability to build and scale processes across a growing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the CEO, Board, and executive team to shape strategy, drive financial performance, and enable long-term value creation.
  • Direct financial planning, forecasting, and analysis, ensuring alignment between near-term objectives and overall business strategy.
  • Lead the annual budget cycle and establish reporting processes that provide leadership with actionable insights and key performance metrics.
  • Manage company-wide financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls to safeguard assets and meet lender and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee and develop the back-office team (finance, IT, HR), fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
  • Guide initiatives related to process improvement, technology adoption, and data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Monitor capital investments, cash flow, and liquidity; maintain lender relationships and ensure covenant compliance.
  • Collaborate with procurement and operations leaders to analyze vendor partnerships and negotiate competitive commercial terms.
  • Play a central role in enterprise growth activities, including due diligence, integration planning, and business development initiatives.
  • Represent the organization with external advisors, auditors, attorneys, and financing partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; advanced degree (MBA) or CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance and leadership experience, ideally combining public accounting and FP&A.
  • Background in private equity–backed or growth-stage companies is highly valued.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams that include HR, IT, or other operational functions.
  • Demonstrated success in scaling financial and operational processes in a growth company.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory-driven business models (retail, distribution, or similar) preferred.
  • Skilled in implementing systems, improving processes, and leveraging technology for business intelligence.
  • Proven ability to partner with executives and boards on strategy, while also being hands-on in execution.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, commercially savvy, and comfortable operating in environments with ambiguity.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with a track record of building high-performing teams.

Compensation

  • Competitive base salary $180-225K + Bonus
  • Performance-based bonus opportunity
  • Equity participation in a growing organization
  • Comprehensive benefits package
