Job Description

Position Overview:

Are you a dynamic and compassionate nursing professional ready to lead a team that makes a meaningful difference every day? We’re seeking a driven and visionary Clinical Operations Leader to oversee and elevate the delivery of health and wellness services for our senior living community. In this role, you will take charge of all aspects of clinical operations, promote best practices in senior care, and play a pivotal role in shaping the resident experience. This position is ideal for a proactive, licensed nurse who thrives on building strong teams, optimizing care processes, and driving excellence across multiple areas of service.

Key Duties & Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Lead Clinical Excellence: Direct and oversee the daily functions of the wellness and nursing department, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality, resident-centered care in alignment with organizational standards and state/federal regulations.
  • Foster a Culture of Team Empowerment: Inspire, coach, and support a multidisciplinary team—including RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and other care professionals—to deliver outstanding service. Provide clear guidance, recognize contributions, and implement development strategies to promote staff engagement and retention.
  • Strategic Care Coordination: Serve as a central liaison among residents, family members, physicians, and outside healthcare providers to ensure seamless transitions of care, individualized treatment planning, and proactive medical management.
  • Clinical Oversight & Regulatory Compliance: Monitor care practices and documentation to guarantee accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to local and state healthcare requirements. Ensure community remains compliant with all relevant licensure and accreditation standards.
  • Resident Advocacy & Wellness Promotion: Champion resident dignity, autonomy, and wellness by assessing changing health conditions, adjusting care plans, and driving initiatives that enhance quality of life and prolong independence.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work in tandem with community leaders, including the Executive Director, department heads, and regional partners, to align operational goals and implement community-wide wellness strategies.
  • Performance Monitoring & Quality Assurance: Review clinical indicators, incident reports, and staff performance to identify trends, mitigate risks, and implement corrective action plans when necessary. Conduct audits and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Mentorship & Clinical Development: Provide hands-on mentorship to both licensed and unlicensed team members, fostering clinical judgment, teamwork, and confidence. May be responsible for guiding a team of additional nurse leaders within the community.
  • Innovation & Technology: Lead the adoption of clinical technologies, electronic health records (EHR), and digital workflows to streamline communication, improve accuracy, and enhance resident care outcomes.

Preferred Background & Skills:

  • Educational Foundation: Graduate of an accredited nursing program; must hold a valid and active nursing license (RN or LPN/LVN) in the state of employment.
  • Proven Leadership Experience: At least 2-4 years of nursing leadership experience in a long-term care, assisted living, or healthcare setting. Prior experience as a Director of Nursing or Health & Wellness Director is highly desirable.
  • Tech-Savvy & Data-Oriented: Comfortable navigating electronic medical record systems, Microsoft Office applications, and digital reporting tools. Able to interpret data to drive decision-making and planning.
  • Comprehensive Knowledge of Senior Living Regulations: Strong understanding of resident care standards, medication management policies, assessment protocols (including 90-day evaluations), and the complexities of multi-level licensure operations.
  • Vehicle & Travel Readiness: Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Occasional travel for training or community support may be required.
  • Personal Attributes: Collaborative, organized, adaptable, and passionate about improving the lives of older adults. Demonstrates sound judgment, integrity, and a genuine commitment to leadership and service excellence.
