My client is a growing employee benefits insurance agency that specializes in individual medical plans as well as small group employee plans. If you don't already have your WA Life & Disabiity license, you will do non-licensed customer service tasks to assist the team during Open Enrollment from Oct through the end of Dec. You will take calls from customers who want to you to find an
Affordable Care policy or want to change an existing plan. You will schedule appointments, answer questions, and look up providers on Carrier sites to make sure the insured's doctor takes the plan.
Once open enrollment is over, you will begin your 40 hour pre-licensing class if you are not already licensed. The agency pays for all licensing costs. Once licensed, you will start working with the Account Managers to learn how to manage and quote group benefits and create proposals. This is the career track training needed so that you can promote to an Account Manager and have your own clients.
The agency provides a fully paid benefits package. This is Mon to Fri work with no weekends needed. If you are not licensed, you will work in the office initially for training and then you can move into a hybrid schedule or a work from home schedule depending on your previous benefits experience.
Ideal backgrounds for unlicensed candidates include CSR time at a Medical Carrier, working for a medical provider in scheduling/benefits verification, working at an insurance agency in customer service, or working in an HR department's employee benefits division. The work is all done on email or phone so excellent communication skills are essential.
This is a fantastic career building opportunity. Starting wage for Non-licensed candiates is $20 to $24, DOE, licensed candidates can see $24 to $27/hour or more DOE in an insurance agency or carrier.
