Position Summary:

The Guitar Instructor is responsible for providing individual and/or group guitar lessons to students of varying skill levels and musical interests. This role includes developing customized lesson plans, teaching music theory and technique, fostering student engagement and creativity, and preparing students for performances, auditions, or personal goals. The instructor is expected to maintain a positive learning environment, assess student progress, and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs. A strong passion for music education, proficiency in various guitar styles (e.g., classical, jazz, rock, blues), and excellent communication skills are essential. A degree in music performance or education is required.

Part-time | In-person (LIC-Rewind) 

Salary: $65 per hr

Hours: Monday Afternoon/Weekend Mornings

Job Duties:

Provide Guitar Instruction:

  • Teach private and/or group guitar lessons to students of all ages and skill levels.
  • Instruct students in various styles such as rock, blues, jazz, classical, folk, or pop.

Develop Lesson Plans:

  • Create customized lesson plans that align with each student's goals, learning pace, and musical interests.
  • Incorporate technique, sight-reading, and improvisation into lessons.
  • Develop three-level curriculums 

Assess Student Progress:

  • Monitor and evaluate student development regularly.
  • Provide constructive feedback and adjust teaching methods accordingly.

Prepare Students for Performances:

  • Organize student recitals, performances, or exams when applicable.
  • Help students build confidence and stage presence.

Maintain Student Records:

  • Keep accurate records of attendance, lesson content, and student progress.
  • Communicate regularly with students and/or parents about goals and achievements.

Instrument and Equipment Care:

  • Teach students how to properly tune, maintain, and care for their guitars and gear.
  • Provide recommendations on instruments, strings, and accessories.

Stay Musically Current:

  • Stay informed on current music trends, teaching methods, and instructional materials.
  • Continue personal musical development through practice and performance.

Create a Positive Learning Environment:

  • Foster a supportive, inclusive, and engaging space for learning.
  • Adapt to different learning styles and encourage student creativity.
