Strategic Talent Partners has been retained by our client to hire a People Development Director.

They are a full-service, 100% employee-owned construction company based in Arizona, specializing in delivering high-quality commercial building projects. With a strong focus on collaboration, integrity, and community, they partner with clients in sectors such as education, healthcare, municipal, and nonprofit to bring their visions to life.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the President and partnering closely with the Executive Leadership team, the People Development Director will design, lead, and scale people development programs. This is a critical role that blends strategy with hands-on execution to enhance leadership capabilities, career development, and overall organizational effectiveness.

The ideal candidate is an experienced Human Resources professional with deep expertise in talent development, employee engagement, and performance management. With a proactive, people-centered approach, this individual will build trusted relationships across departments and align HR strategy with Concord’s culture and business objectives.

The role is based on-site in Mesa , AZ.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor across business units, aligning talent initiatives with company goals
  • Coach and influence leaders to elevate leadership effectiveness and team performance

Employee Relations & Performance

  • Guide managers on employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance management
  • Support and coach managers with talent assessments, development plans, and goal-setting conversations
  • Lead performance management processes, including feedback cycles, promotions, and performance improvement plans

Talent Management & Development

  • Identify high-potential talent and support succession planning efforts
  • Design and implement development programs that enhance skills and career growth
  • Oversee vendor selection and technology solutions to support the organization’s learning needs

Culture & Engagement

  • Champion a positive, inclusive, and equitable culture that reflects company values
  • Analyze data from engagement surveys, exit interviews, and feedback tools to drive meaningful improvements

Skills and Experience:

  • 10+ years of HR Generalist or HR Business Partner experience, with a focus on talent development and performance management
  • Demonstrated success designing and launching employee development programs
  • Strong communication and coaching skills, with the ability to build trust and influence leaders
  • Humble, collaborative mindset with a bias for action and accountability
  • Construction or related industry experience a plus; varied industry backgrounds also valued
  • Experience implementing HR technologies or managing learning and development vendors
