Job Title: Healthcare - Medicare Underwriter

Location: Durham, North Carolina (Remote)

Duration: 12 Months Contract role

Pay rate: $29-$33/hr. on W2

Job Responsibilities

• Manage a Book of Business with up to 100,000 members and representing up to $350,000,000 in premium or premium equivalent.
• Meet or exceed Business Segment revenue, margin, membership, persistency goals.
• Provide consultative service to both internal and external customers.
• Has the authority to make decisions within the bounds stipulated by Underwriting Management and departmental policies.
• Produce regular and ad hoc reports for Underwriting Management.
• Analyze underwriting risk and determines premium rates for fully insured groups and funding rates for ASO groups.
• Utilize technical expertise to make recommendations regarding benefit and funding plan design options. Assist with underwriting process and system changes.
• Participate in final rate and benefit discussions with Sales and external group customers.
• May assist with the development and provision of training to the underwriting staff, sales staff, and other departments in the principles and practices of underwriting and rating.

Hiring Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required)
• 3+ years of experience in Underwriting
• In lieu of degree, 5+ years of experience in related field.
