In-House Legal Counsel | Commercial General Contractor | Dallas-Fort Worth Area

We’re supporting a well-established and fast-growing commercial contractor in their search for a high-caliber In-House Counsel to take on the number one legal role within the business. With several hundred employees and a strong reputation across the commercial construction space, the company is continuing to scale and is looking for someone who can help shape legal strategy and support operations at every level.

The Role:

This is a #1 Legal Counsel position - a strategic and hands-on opportunity to serve as the legal voice inside the business. You’ll be embedded in the day-to-day operations and work closely with the leadership team, risk, and project functions, with the autonomy to make an impact across the company.

The business maintains strong relationships with external counsel, but your focus will be on internal leadership: proactive risk management, contract strategy, and operational guidance.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating key contracts (owner, subcontractor, vendor, consultant)
• Advising on insurance, compliance, OSHA, and environmental matters
• Developing internal policies and delivering training to project teams and leadership
• Managing claims and disputes, including oversight of external counsel when needed
• Providing occasional support to ownership on private legal matters

Who You Are:

• 5+ years of legal experience in construction or real estate (from private practice or in-house)
• Deep understanding of general contractor-side contracts and risk profiles
• A strong communicator with sound judgment and a commercial mindset
• Someone comfortable speaking up and constructively challenging ideas — while remaining a team player
• Based in (or willing to relocate to) the Dallas-Fort Worth area — this is a fully on-site role
