Are you looking for that next step in your career as a Lead Formulation Scientist? Astrix is collaborating with a client in the sports nutrition manufacturing sector to identify a dynamic, hands-on R&D Manager to drive innovation in formulation and laboratory operations . This R&D Manager will coordination with other departments to support, coordinate, and develop innovative nutrition powders and supplement products.

Type: Direct Hire

Location: Middlesex County, NJ

Rate: $90K - $120K

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development of new products and enhancement of existing formulations.
• Research and source high-quality raw materials.
• ​Expand lab capabilities to analyze raw materials.
• Develop testing protocols for key characteristics.
• Utilize data to refine formulations and improve manufacturing efficiency.
• Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of lab equipment.
• Supervise and mentor lab technicians.
• Provide training in formulation techniques and quality control.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align product development with company objectives.
• Manage R&D project timelines to ensure efficiency and innovation.​
• Ensure formulations comply with FDA, cGMP, NSF, and other regulatory requirements.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation, including formulation records and stability studies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Master's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Nutrition/Dietetics, or related field.
• 3+ year experience in nutraceutical formulation and R&D.
• Knowledge of product development processes, ingredient interactions, and regulatory requirements.
• Hands-on experience with solid dose and powder manufacturing equipment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel; familiarity with ERP software (e.g., Deacom) is a plus.
