Job Description

In a third-party logistics (3PL) environment, the Logistics Specialist is responsible for planning and coordinating transportation arrangements for clients’ cargo, including domestic deliveries and international shipments (air and sea freight). This role requires close communication with carriers, customs brokers, shipping lines, airlines, and customers to ensure timely, secure, compliant, and cost-effective delivery of goods to designated destinations. The position also involves handling import/export documentation, tracking shipment status, and responding promptly to unforeseen logistics issues to maintain high service quality.

General Responsibilities

  • Plan and arrange domestic and international transportation operations, including truck dispatching, air freight, sea freight, and multimodal transport.
  • Select appropriate carriers and transportation methods based on customer requirements and cargo characteristics (e.g., shipping lines, courier companies, air freight forwarders).
  • Coordinate and monitor cargo movement using TMS, WMS, or freight tracking platforms to ensure real-time visibility of delivery progress.
  • Handle and verify import/export documentation, including Bills of Lading (B/L), packing lists, commercial invoices, and Air Waybills (AWB).
  • Manage and arrange customs clearance processes to ensure compliance with international trade regulations and destination country customs requirements.
  • Maintain effective communication with external stakeholders such as customers, suppliers, and customs brokers to handle special requests and unexpected issues (e.g., shipment delays, customs problems).
  • Communicate regularly with clients regarding transportation performance metrics (KPIs) and provide cost optimization recommendations.
  • Continuously optimize transportation workflows and route planning to reduce logistics time and costs.
  • Support internal billing reconciliation and logistics cost analysis.

Qualification

  • Education: Associate’s degree or above in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in transportation coordination, international logistics, or 3PL operations.
  • Language Skills: Proficient in Mandarin due to stakeholders; Intermediate or above in English (reading and writing of shipping documents and email correspondence).

Skills

  • Systems & Tools: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook); experience with TMS, WMS, or ERP systems preferred.

Knowledge

  • Familiar with international shipping terms and documents (e.g., Incoterms, HS Codes, B/L, AWB).
  • Basic understanding of customs clearance and international trade regulations.
