Job Purpose:
The FTPC MES Developer is responsible for the development, configuration, customization, and support of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) as part of Factory talk production center(FTPC). The role involves hands on programming, integration with automation systems, and supporting deployment in alignment with Industry 4.0 objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. MES Application Development:
Design, develop, and configure MES modules such as production tracking, quality, genealogy, traceability, downtime, and maintenance. Customize FTPC MES platforms as per client requirements. Implement logic for data capture from PLCs, SCADA, historians, and other OT systems.
2. Integration & Interfaces:
Develop interfaces between MES and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), SCADA, DCS, PLCs using APIs, OPC UA, MQTT, REST, or SQL. Create and manage data exchange routines between MES and other IT/OT applications.
3. Technical Documentation:
Prepare technical specifications, configuration documentation, and user manuals. Maintain code repositories and change control logs in line with project standards.
4. Testing & Validation:
Participate in unit, integration, and UAT testing of MES solutions. Ensure solutions meet compliance and validation requirements (e.g., GxP, ISO 9001, 21 CFR Part 11 where applicable).
5. Support & Maintenance:
Provide L2/L3 support for MES systems during and after deployment. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to MES logic, connectivity, data capture, and reporting.
6. Collaboration:
Work closely with MES architects, automation engineers, IT teams, and plant operations to deliver robust MES solutions.Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and agile ceremonies where applicable.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor¿s Degree in Computer Science, IT Electronics, Instrumentation, or related engineering discipline.
3¿8 years of experience in MES development or manufacturing systems integration.
Hands on experience in more MES platforms Preferably Rockwell FTPC
Proficiency in programming languages like Pnuts scripting language, C, JavaScript, VB.NET, or Python.
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, ISA 95, ISA 88, and industrial automation.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of SQL Server, MS SQL DB, or other relational databases. Experience in developing reports or dashboards using Power BI, SSRS, or similar tools.
Familiarity with IT OT communication protocols (OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus).
Exposure to agile development methodologies and DevOps tools.
