Roles & Responsibilities:
Pharmacy Department Inventory Specialist / Senior Buyer
The Senior Buyer is responsible for all aspects of medication and inventory management at Mount Sinai Brooklyn from intelligent procurement to optimal storage (both in pharmacy and Pyxis) and effective dispensation. They will regularly assess related processes, report up with effective solutions and alternatives, and then help implement recommendations. This individual will be a key player in the management team and will work closely with both the pharmacy manager and assistant director on a wide variety of administrative tasks to meet departmental medication needs. This includes the management of related inventory control systems and software such as Epic Willow Inventory (WINV), Pyxis ES, C2 Safe, KitCheck, ABC, Sentry/Sentinel and direct purchasing contracts with potential oversight for coordination of outpatient medication discharge initiatives.
1. Maintains a relationship with vendors to ensure the procurement of high quality equipment and products, expedient delivery and reliable service at optimum prices.
2. Performs daily purchasing functions of medications and related items, IV fluids, infusion/oncology and pharmacy office supplies
3. Performs daily inventory tasks such as receiving the order electronically, unpacking of the order, and preparing returns for medications
4. Monitors local medication and supply inventory through PAR levels maintenance. Continuously evaluates and updates these values, addresses any discrepancies uncovered due to improper dispensing, inaccurate decrimentation or ineffective utilization.
5. Takes control of inventory accuracy by performing cycle counts and assigning cycle counts to staff; then monitoring accuracy on a weekly basis
6. Takes responsibility for coordinating and ensuring completion of all medication transfers, both within the health system and externally with appropriate electronic documentation
7. Oversees KitCheck RFID system and any related medication processes
8. Other administrative and operational tasks as required to meet departmental needs
Requirements:
Bachelors or entry-level business degree (accounting, operations, information systems, supply chain management) with hospital pharmacy experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
2 years minimum of pharmacy purchasing and/or supervisory experience (hospital setting preferred) experience in similar or equivalent settings may qualify. pharmacy degree or certification or tech preferred

Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $58,661.00 - $81,675.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
