Job Description

Project Architect – Multifamily & Affordable Housing Focus

Denver, CO (Hybrid)

About Us

STUDIO Architecture is a national architecture firm rooted in Colorado with deep experience in affordable and workforce housing. We create communities that inspire pride, foster connection and improve the daily lives of the people who call our projects home.

We approach every affordable housing project with humility, curiosity and practical ingenuity. With an owner’s mindset and a deep understanding of budgets, timelines and operations, we partner with our clients to solve problems, uncover value and deliver designs that serve communities and elevate the lived experience.

We have a number of new market-rate and affordable housing projects on the boards. From sustainable, zero-energy ready mountain workforce housing to market-rate urban infill development to student housing, we combine creativity with a deep respect for a project’s context, schedule and long-term success. While prior affordable housing experience is not required, this is an opportunity to apply your multifamily architecture and project management skills to new work that blends innovative design with social impact.

About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Project Architect to join our collaborative team. At STUDIO, opportunity is built into everything we do. For our team, it means real responsibility from day one, the chance to stretch your skills and the space to make an impact. You’ll work on a variety of multifamily and mixed-use projects, including developments that improve access to quality housing across the U.S. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on complex design challenges, values a culture of idea-sharing, and believes in the power of architecture to strengthen communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the production of schematic design, design development and construction document sets for medium to large multifamily residential and mixed-use projects (100+ units).
  • Coordinate with specification writers, structural, MEP, civil, and other specialty consultants throughout all project phases.
  • Lead and mentor Revit drafting staff during schematic design, design development, and construction documentation.
  • Develop building envelope and system details for wood frame, concrete, and steel construction.
  • Integrate building, energy, and accessibility code requirements into designs.
  • Manage internal and remote teams, tracking schedules, resolving production issues, and reporting to principals.
  • Oversee entitlement and building permit processes; respond to city and housing authority comments efficiently.
  • Participate in construction administration as needed, including OAC meetings, RFIs, submittal reviews, and field observations.

Qualifications

  • 6–10 years of architectural experience on primarily multifamily residential projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture required.
  • An architecture license is encouraged.
  • Strong project coordination, management and communication skills.
  • Revit and Bluebeam proficiency required.
  • SketchUp proficiency preferred.
  • Familiarity with MS Project, Word, Excel, Slack, and Smartsheet preferred.
  • Self-starter able to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.

Work Location

  • Local to the Denver office required (Hybrid opportunity)
  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 am – 6:00 pm MT

Benefits

  • Hybrid work flexibility
  • 401(k) with employer match
