Established commercial concrete subcontractor with office headquartered in Simi Valley, CA. Seeking a staff estimator to assist in estimating and management of commercial construction projects. Subcontracts include architectural/structural concrete services for educational/campus, multifamily/mixed use, commercial property, etc. The successful candidate will report directly to the senior estimator and join a team dedicated to building top-quality projects while providing premium service to leading general contractor clientele throughout Southern California.
The ideal candidate will be able to:
Have a strong understanding of construction industry procedures, especially site/civil construction work.
Read and analyze construction drawings, specifications, and electronic files to determine requirements of construction project in order to create a thorough complete proposal.
Use computer take-off software to quantify the material needs of a project.
Research and price materials from suppliers/market resources in order to provide complete proposal estimate for projects.
Compose detailed proposal to submit for construction project.
Use Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel) to create, update and maintain meticulous documents, project proposals, change orders, etc.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs (RFI, CO, modifications, as built submittals etc.), track responses and advise the Project Manager of the status.
Assist Project Manager in managing current projects with submittals, startup, scheduling, installation, and completion.
Assist entire company team as needed to assure timely, successful project completion
Develop and maintain cooperative and constructive working relationships with supervisors, peers, vendors and clients
While experience in these areas is ideal, they are not mandatory as we are willing to train the right applicant.
Qualifications and Skills
REQUIREMENTS:
MUST BE ABLE TO READ, NAVIGATE, AND UNDERSTAND CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS – hardcopy and electronic. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Background in construction project management - schooling or work experience.
Computer knowledge in a Windows environment required. MUST know MS Word & intermediate Excel, proficient email
communication, internet research.
Onscreen take-off, Blubeam Revu, Procore software experience is a plus.
Our company utilizes industry specific computer software that is fairly easy to learn.
