We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Purchasing Manager to lead procurement operations for our capital equipment manufacturing business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the sourcing, negotiation, and purchasing of materials, components, and services critical to the production of complex capital equipment. This role requires strong supplier management skills, technical understanding of engineered products, and the ability to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance.
Key Responsibilities:
· Procurement Strategy & Execution
· Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with production schedules and company goals.
· Manage and optimize vendor relationships to ensure timely delivery of high-quality materials and services.
· Supplier Management
· Identify, qualify, and manage domestic and international suppliers.
· Conduct supplier audits, performance reviews, and implement corrective actions as needed.
· Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers, ensuring cost-effectiveness and risk mitigation.
· Cross-Functional Collaboration
· Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to forecast demand and source components per project specifications.
· Support product development initiatives by sourcing prototypes and managing material lead times.
· Cost Control & Inventory Management
· Analyze market trends, material costs, and economic indicators to make informed purchasing decisions.
· Monitor and manage inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess while maintaining production continuity.
· Process Improvement & Compliance
· Develop and maintain purchasing policies and procedures in line with ISO, ASME, or other industry standards.
· Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities and supply chain efficiency improvements.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
· 5–10 years of experience in purchasing/procurement, preferably in capital equipment or heavy manufacturing.
· Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.
· Proficient in ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
· Knowledge of mechanical/electrical components, machining processes, and fabrication standards is a plus.
· Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
· Preferred Certifications:
· Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), or equivalent.
