About The Ijaz Group

At The Ijaz Group, we are dedicated to helping mission-driven organizations thrive by delivering exceptional finance and accounting services. We pride ourselves on being trusted advisors to nonprofits, providing reliable, transparent, and tailored support. We’re a passionate team that values integrity, continuous learning, and the impact of our work.

Requirements

We’re looking for a Senior Client Accountant to join our growing team.

In this role, you’ll lead the day-to-day accounting operations for a portfolio of nonprofit clients, serve as a strategic partner for financial clarity, and mentor junior team members. You’ll work closely with clients to ensure timely, accurate, and actionable financial reporting that supports their mission and decision-making.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who loves solving complex problems, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants to make a meaningful impact through finance.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead accounting operations for your client portfolio, including oversight of AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger activities.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for client communication—building trust through proactive, responsive, and high-quality service.
  • Manage and deliver accurate monthly close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, board reports, grant tracking schedules, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Collaborate with clients to support annual audits, 990 filings, and funder reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with client-specific regulatory and internal controls.
  • Provide strategic financial insights to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning.
  • Supervise and support Associates and Bookkeepers, including review of their work and mentoring on best practices.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) and contribute to internal process improvements.
  • Take ownership of special projects and cross-functional initiatives as assigned.

What You Bring

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CPA-track preferred).
  • 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit accounting or client services; public accounting or CAS experience is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency with accounting tools such as QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication, project management, and client relationship skills.
  • Ability to lead multiple engagements with exceptional attention to detail and time management.
  • A growth mindset with a desire to continuously improve systems, skills, and services.

Benefits

Why You’ll Love Working With Us

  • Unlimited PTO – We trust you to manage your time.
  • Fully covered health benefits – Medical, dental, and vision for you and your family.
  • 401(k) with a 5% match – We help you plan for the future.
  • Professional development – We support your growth through training and learning opportunities.
  • A collaborative, inclusive team culture – We value your voice and ideas.
