Description:

SUMMARY

The position is responsible for the oversight of the install and configuration for the organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet systems or a segment of a network system. Monitor network to ensure network availability to all system users and may perform necessary maintenance to support network availability. Assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software. Support staff as needed either on or off premise.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties as assigned

Administration

  • Manage needed upgrades and repairs to networks and ensure that systems are operating correctly.
  • Maintain network and computer system security. Provide insight on new security risks and vulnerabilities as they arise and keep the agency equipment up to date to avoid any vulnerabilities in the environment.
  • Evaluate and optimize network and system performance.
  • Oversee and directly provide assistance with adding new users to a network and assign and update security permissions on the network.
  • Provide training to staff on the operating system and security risks.
  • Administration of the following Systems:
  • Firewall rules and configuration
  • Symantec Endpoint Protection
  • Cloud and on-premise server maintenance
  • Configuration and support for mobile devices.
  • Manage Cisco Appliances including routing, VPN, and firewall
  • Manage Meraki cloud portal along with all network peripherals to maintain a seamless flow for all facilities.
  • Assist with new implementations and testing of newly developed processes.
  • Deploy Auto-deployed equipment to staff and provide remote assistance when necessary.
  • Design, produce and distribute in a timely manner specific, accurate reports as assigned or needed. Documentation of operations and procedures in detail.
  • Provide basic backup support when required including desktop and network troubleshooting.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships within the agency and vendors. 
  • Location primarily serves Kent & Sussex Counties, Delaware, with state-wide travel to provide support to staff as needed.

Miscellaneous

  • Comply with applicable agency, contract, funding and accreditation requirements and standards.
  • Provide assistance with special projects, as assigned.
  • Provide ongoing feedback for improvement and quality.
  • Maintain agency standards regarding confidentiality, quality, and performance improvement.
  • Serve on staff committees as assigned and/or approved.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science with 3-5 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required. Any of the following certifications desirable: Microsoft, Cisco, VMware. T Microsoft and/or A+ certifications and Knowledge of Windows 11 Pro preferred. Working knowledge of Android systems preferred.
