Metal Grinder / Finisher – Monee, IL 60449

Malone is seeking a Skilled Metal Grinder / Finisher to join our growing team in Monee, IL. This position plays a key role in producing high-quality metal parts by grinding and smoothing welded surfaces prior to painting.

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm (Metal Department may transition to 10-hour days)

Job Summary:

The Grinder/Metal Finisher is responsible for removing weld marks, burrs, and other surface imperfections to achieve a smooth, clean finish on metal parts. Ideal candidates will have experience grinding stainless steel and aluminum , as both require careful handling to preserve material integrity.

Responsibilities:

• Grind down welds and smooth surfaces using hand and power tools such as angle grinders and flap discs.
• Use appropriate grit levels for different materials (e.g., coarse for weld removal, fine grit or polish for finishing).
• Inspect and finish surfaces to meet quality standards before parts are painted.
• Follow safety protocols, including proper PPE use and secure workpiece setup.
• Maintain equipment and work area in a clean, safe condition.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience as a metal grinder, metal finisher, or fabrication worker .
• Experience grinding stainless steel and aluminum preferred.
• Ability to identify and use various grinding materials and grit levels correctly.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision work.
• Welding experience is not required and does not substitute for grinding experience.
