Job Description

Summary:

The Portfolio Underwriter will review first mortgage and home equity loans for credit decisions.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Comprehensive review of collateral and all property elements.
• Ensure portfolio and investor compliance.
• Ensure credit policy and procedures are followed.
• Generate self employed income through tax return analysis.
• Clearly document underwriting decision.
• Prepare customer commitments to be issued detailing additional conditions.

Required Skills:

• Demonstrated strong knowledge of underwriting self employed individuals.
• Demonstrate full knowledge of collateral and appraisal understanding and have experience with unique properties.
• Full knowledge of condominiums and cooperative lending.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
• May be required to lift loan files up to 10 pounds.

Required Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of five years non-conforming/portfolio underwriting experience.
• Associate's Degree preferred.
