Job Summary:

The Senior Facilities Technician is responsible for advanced maintenance, installation, and repair of building systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, etc.) for Houston Methodist facilities. This role oversees new construction, remodeling, and complex repairs, ensures compliance with codes and standards, mentors junior staff, and manages preventative maintenance and emergency system testing. This role spans across multiple locations in Houston and you would be expected to travel throughout those.

Must-Have Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED, homeschool equivalency, or partial/full post-secondary education).
• Experience: Minimum 4 years of general maintenance-related experience.

Skills:

• Advanced knowledge in at least one trade (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, HVAC, or general maintenance).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, safety rules, and technical documents.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication in English (speaking, reading, writing).
• Ability to mentor and train junior staff.
• Proficient in using standard and specialized tools and equipment safely.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and complete complex procedures.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, push/pull up to 100 lbs, and perform frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and kneeling.
