Job Description

Overview:

Kingsbridge Heights Community Center (KHCC) is a 51 year old multi-service not-for-profit organization based on the settlement house model and located in the Bronx. KHCC embraces and empowers community - from cradle through career - to develop passions and potential, and build durable pathways towards purpose, prosperity and well-being. KHCC serves over 5,000 families annually with an inclusive environment for children with special needs, low-income families, recent immigrants, survivors of sexual and domestic abuse, and at-risk teens. KHCC helps participants overcome adversity and develop the skills they need to build bright futures.

The Changing Futures Program Supervising Therapist is responsible for managing their own therapeutic caseload, while training and supporting graduate level interns in learning case management, individual and family treatment approaches and group implementation.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual, family and group therapy to children, youth, adults and families who experienced trauma and abuse; complete initial contacts and intakes.
  • Provide administrative and clinical supervision of interns (and task supervision to staff as needed); liaise with graduate program field work offices to meet individualized school requirements.
  • Conduct clinical assessment and diagnosis; Complete quarterly treatment plans; Maintain case records; Submit timely progress notes, monthly statistics, and outcome surveys.
  • Provide effective case management, including information and referral, advocacy, follow up, crisis intervention, and coordination with other service providers and involved systems.
  • Participate in and lead (as requested) coaching, training, and clinical case presentations (i.e. peer supervision).
  • Help support planning and implementation of community outreach, gender based violence advocacy with partner organizations, and annual events, both program specific (e.g. Sexual Assault Awareness Month) and agency wide (Neighborbood Festival).
  • Utilize the program preferred modalities (TF-CBT, EMDR, etc.) and therapeutic specialty approaches e.g. art, horticulture, animal assisted techniques, or group curriculums
  • Engage in training on various group curriculum; Plan and facilitate 1-2 groups annually, including Project DOT, Beyond Trauma, Parenting Journey, etc.

Qualifications:

  • MSW, MFT, MHC or related graduate degree required
  • LCSW preferred; LMSW or licensure in other related fields will be considered.
  • Seminar in Practicum Instruction (SIPI) required within 1st year of hire; Ability to supervise up to 4 graduate level interns.
  • At least one year of clinical experience with children and families preferred
  • Some experience with trauma treatment approaches and survivors of sexual violence is helpful.
  • Schedule may include Tuesday-Saturday work schedule and/or three 11am-7pm work days per week
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; handle, or feel; talk, hear, smell or taste. On rare occasions it may be necessary to move quickly, run, etc. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Schedule:

  • 35 hours /week + as needed Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu/Fri: 10am-6pm or 11am-7pm, schedule varies for later events and trips and/or during summer programming. Schedule may include Tuesday-Saturday work schedule.
