Job Description
Insight Global is looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to work on site in La Vergne, Tennessee for a global fortune 500 technology manufacturing & design company that is building cloud computing technologies for the world's largest search engine, online retailer and social media companies and working in the computer and electronics manufacturing industry. The Supplier Quality Engineer coordinates interface with suppliers, DMR/RTV function, corporate headquarters, and local contacts for all materials
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
The main job functions are divided into four categories: Planning, Monitoring, Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement.
PLANNING:
Serves as the Supplier Quality Assurance representative on New Product Introduction (NPI) team for all new product launches. Ensures that all new parts supplied to QMN have RTV (Return To Vendor) paths and instructions set up, and helps calculate possible replacement rates to ensure that an adequate set of replacement parts are in place prior to mass production, using data from previous projects and experience
Reviews Lessons Learned data from similar products and processes prior to launch to avoid repeat issues.
Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities.
MONITORING:
Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
Provides direction for Quality Assurance Inspectors performing sample audits of incoming materials and stock. Provides leadership to Incoming Quality Control.
Provides assistance to the DMR/RTV (MRB) group in planning, executing and auditing inventory, control of MRB inventory, issuing replacement parts, etc.
Assists with disposition of materials which have failed test and are on hold in the MRB area. This includes working with vendor to get Failure Analysis results.
PROBLEM SOLVING:
Leads cross-functional team for corrective action efforts including root cause and countermeasure actions using customer and Quanta required methodologies and formats (8D, 5-why, fishbone, etc.). Responds to customer within required timeframes with detailed explanations and visits customer facilities as required.
A special emphasis in this position will be working with various cross-functional groups to eliminate damaged due to handling and installation issues of supplied parts within the their facilities.
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT:
Serves as continuous improvement leader for products and processes for which he/she is responsible for including kaizen events, six sigma projects and evaluation of employee suggestions.
Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of process capability.
Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Math, Science or related field.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in a Manufacturing environment.
• Experience with third party quality system certifications, ex. ISO 9001.
